Pre-Show Blog About Our Efforts

Randi Kaye, the reporter who conducted the interview on Monday here in my home, has written a post on the AC360 Blog entitled "Palin's Female Fans: Why They Can Relate". i find it amazing that any level headed person could possibly think of voting for a mccain/palin ticket. what happened to the days when a president was supposed to be the most intelligent and distinguished person in the land? this "joe six-pack" mentality is absolutely dangerous. i don't think she realizes that she has a 1 in 6 chance of being president of the united states, and i don't think you realize it either. this is the most powerful and important job on the planet and the actions of this office affect every single nation around the world, and you want to vote in mccain and palin, a 72 year old man with past bouts with cancer and a "hockey mom" with no business being vice-president or president. i can only pray the majority of the electorat does the right thing, and make no mistake; sarah palin coming that close to the presidency is absolutely wrong.

I found your site based on this article. Now while I disagree with Palin's views, I believe that there has been alot of needless sexism directed at her during the election season - too little focus on her ideas and far too much focus on her "dress and mannerisms". She has never been given the chance to sink or swim on her own merit, and that is unfair to her, and to both of us as voters! Kudos for starting and maintaining this website. It feels good to know there are Americans standing up for what they believe in (even if we don't believe in the same thing). We need more of this. Well done!

You are going to lose, and the choice of Sarah Palin will be viewed as the biggest mistake John McCain has made in his campaign. She will be a running joke in political and social circles for years to come, and we will never hear from her again. Enjoy your last month with people actually caring who she is, because it's gone November 5th.

Anonymous said...

I am sorry but there is no way Sarah Palin is ready to be a VP, especially with McCains age and health she could be the President if something were to happen to McCain. That would be the worst thing that could happen to this country.

Have you actually heard how terrible she is at interviews, and backing up anything she says on TV things that are not scripted. Well when she has to goto meetings with international leaders and so on they are going to think who invited this clown to the meeting..

Our country will be represented by some bimbo...

I'm a deeply patriotic, pro-life conservative, but I have to say I'm in the camp that thinks Sarah Palin is utterly unqualified to serve as VP, let alone president. These times call for intelligent, enlightened leadership (and folks, elitism is GOOD), and a 180-degree break from the disastrous policies that got us into this mess. I'm going with Obama, and with all due respect I wish you'd all join me.

Anonymous said...

I have yet to meet one intelligent woman who likes Sarah Palin.

If you're too dumb to understand the words and vision of real politicians, then stay out of politics... and PLEASE, stay at home on November 4th.

I miss the days when I was proud to be a republican...

Lobbyists and Wall street will have field days if Sarah is the vice president.

She has no opinion and she will go with the lobbyists opinion all the time.

Anonymous said...

There's a reason the McCain campaign hasn't let her out for more then a couple of interviews, and it's not just because she comes across as unintelligent, unorganized, and incapable of holding this position. She is a tactic of the McCain campaign. She is a strategy. To those saying there is sexism in the coverage, the biggest sexist act in this campaign has been the choice of Sarah Palin for VP. She is being used because she is a woman who isn't hard to look at, has conservative views, and can spew hate with words.

Anonymous said...

McCain's decisions are questionable even before the presidency like picking Sarah Palin for running mate.

God forbid him with all the powers of the president to make more of George Bush decisions if not worse.

Anonymous said...

What I can't understand is why Palin refuses to go on The Today Show. The only way a candidate would not go on a show that reaches such vast quantities of people before election day is that she can't be trusted to be put in a situation where she is not scripted. that should tell you something.

Anonymous said...

i find it incredible that any level headed person could possibly think of voting for McCain/Palin ticket.

She's easily the worst VP candidate in the last 50 years.

Sara Palin is a gimick. She is a tool being utilized by the Republican machine to distract you from the issues and everything they have done to you for the last 8 years. I hear no solutions from her. I hear no details from her. All I hear is negative comments about Obama. Do you vote based on how much they can make you hate him or what they plan to do about our issues in America. If you say the issues, then start asking for McCain and Palin to start giving some answers. So far I have not heard anything from them. Sara is simply a tool that has not earned her time in the spotlight. Everyone knows MCain really wanted Lieberman.

It disgusts me that Sarah continues to promote alcoholics as the people she represents. "Joe Six-pack" is such a trailer park term and it's disgusting to hear her say that over and over again.

I know she wants to promote herself as an "everyday" gal but most of middle class America isn't poor. We don't live in trailers and drink our 6 packs each night. We are white collar, educated, professionals, even us SAHMs. While we may not be in the workforce now, the educated among us vote for intellect instead of "she's just like me". Tami, you shouldn't want someone "just like you", sorry to say but you should want better and smarter.

I read on CNN.com, Anderson Cooper 360 that the members of this site or at least the creator of this site supports Sarah Palin because she does not support embryonic stem cell research. Well, on a long standing, McCain campaign radio commercial ad being aired here in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, the McCain-Palin ticket support stem cell research. Matter-of-fact, the ad goes into the benefits that could come from stem cell research and chastises the democrats for saying Senator McCain does not support stem cell research. The ad ends by asking voters to support the McCain-Palin ticket because THEY SUPPORT stem cell research. If Governor does not support stem cell research, then someone needs to let her know!

I'm Anonymous Post #6, who claim Sarah is dealing with Sexism and that Tami is doing a fine job. I followed a link here like everyone else did, and I think we need to be a littler nicer. I'm a liberal and an atheist, and I think it's important to try an extend a friendly hand now and then. This website is the result of passion in politics, and I think it's a good thing. Calling someone ignorant because they support a presidential candidate offer no opportunity for you to see eye to eye. I'll apologise to Tami and say that I disagree with that tone. If you'd like to justify or discredit Palin in terms of foreign policy, economi policy, or specific social initiatives, we can do that. But Palin is not "stupid" or "airheaded" or whatever other feminine slurs some on this site woudl liek to use. If you want to adress Tami's support of Palin, I think we should do it based on policy and ideology, not cheap shots.

I don't agree with some of Sarah's views but the real problem I have with her being nominated for vice president is that she lacks the education needed to perform on the job.

She attended 4 schools in 5 years, graduating with a degree in sports journalism.

Although she has some experience being mayor and governor, this simply isn't enough to run a country as complex as the USA.

Bush isn't very bright either and we see what teriffic and costly mistakes he has made.

Americans just can't afford to have a president or vice president who isn't the smartest person possible.

She may be one of the girls, but that isn't good enough to run the country.

Dear Tami,

It's great that you agree with Palin's values. She seems to be a very a strong woman.

However, let's try to understand what a VP and President do, and what skills they need to do that job well. Understanding the economy is not an option - it's a necessity for a President (or any legislator). Every piece of policy that the government passes and every action the government takes has an economic impact. For example, we send subsidies to farmers every year. This one piece of policy that it supposed to help farmers has effects on the types of crops grown, the quality of food in grocery stores, and the health of our nation.

We live in a complex, integrated society where every action has ramifications in a number of different areas. The relationships and the understand of these various causes and effects is the study of economics.

So, when Palin responds to Couric's question about why we shouldn't give money to homeowners instead of big banks with nonsense, you should be concerned. She wasn't being "set up" - that's a basic question a candidate should answer. It's not so hard to say, "Well, we live in an economy where leverage and debt are tools for growth. If the banks fail, the vehicle for that growth stalls, and we all suffer. So, we need to make sure banks can keep doing their jobs so citizens and small businesses can keep getting the credit they need to stay in business."

This is a GROSS oversimplification, but even it reflects a basic understanding of what is going on. Palin's answer was a bunch of nonsense, meaning she probably doesn't understand even the least bit of economics. This isn't something that can be "left to an adviser" because, again, every government action has economic impacts.

It takes intelligence and judgment to be President. I can't speak to judgment, but it seems she lacks basic intelligence, and, as George Bush showed us, that can be a dangerous thing.

I'm sorry, but Palin is simply not quick enough on her feet. She can't stand on her own in the face of even moderately tough questions - look at the bomb that was the curie interview. She wasn't even asked anything hard during that interview.

Anyone who cannot grasp the current situation even when flung into the middle of it must not be even close to the leadership of the country.

It amazes me that anyone would even consider voting for the current republican ticket - it's as though some people don't think hard enough about what they're voting for.

As a mom of 4 kids, I respect Sarah Palin... as a mom.

As a potential VP (and God forbid, President), I think we should demand a bit more from her. I'm not sure why one feels the need to call the media "liberal" because it asks Gov. Palin to share her views on the very real issues she will need to face if she's the VP.

Can't we respect Gov. Palin but also recognize she appears woefully unqualified to serve as VP, and has expressed very little intellectual curiosity on the key issues? I guess I don't see what's wrong with that.

Dan Seifert said...

At present, comments on the CNN article that are critical of Ms. Palin outnumber those that are positive by a ratio of approximately 30:1. It is also worth noting that in the past 10 days, Ms. Palin's favorability ratings in various national polls have dropped by over 20 points. I believe this is for three key reasons:

1) Her folksy charm no longer masks her underlying incompetence. As much as it can be exciting to think of a President who's "Just like us," we all reach a point (usually within a month or so of the election) when we realize "Wait a minute, me and my friends aren't actually qualified to run the country - do we really want someone 'just like us' in charge of the economy, our military, and all the complexities of foreign relations?"

2) We are learning more and more about her consistent record of obfuscating the inner workings of her government. After eight years of a President who has favored executive privilege over transparency, the pendulum is swinging back towards openness and accountability in government. From her efforts to subvert subpoenas by using personal emails for government communications to her unethical inclusion of her husband in matters of State, it is clear that a Palin administration would only serve to more thickly insulate the Presidency from the rest of the government (not to mention the people).

3) Women are recognizing that rather than a progressive choice signaling a new ascendancy of women in politics, Ms. Palin's inclusion on the ticket is in fact pandering of the most cynical and insulting sort. McCain is essentially making the assumption that women will vote for a woman on spec, without any critical examination of the policies she actually supports. Ms. Palin is far to the extreme right on issues that disproportionately affect women, including reproductive rights and the rights of sexual assault victims.

In the final analysis, the simple truth is that Ms. Palin lacks the essential attribute required of Presidents (and, by extension, Vice Presidents): gravitas. Can you honestly imagine Sarah Palin sitting at a table with Prime Minister Brown, President Putin, President Sarkozy, among others, and accurately / nimbly representing our interest in multilateral negotiations? Can you imagine Sarah Palin discussing the nuances of macroeconomic policy with the Federal Reserve Board?

We need - and deserve - an executive who is smart, serious, and purposeful.

She is none of the above.

Sarah Palin's folksy phrases and cutesy demeanor in her public appearances are the most embarrassing thing women have had to endure since Focus on the Family first told us that we should stay home with our children instead of daring to work. This type of behavior is an insult to women everywhere who struggle to be taken seriously in a male-dominated workplace. Can you even fathom Kay Bailey Hutchison, Condoleeezza Rice, or Hillary Clinton responding to a question with a cheeky "you betcha!" and -- good lord -- a WINK?? I don't know about you, but I would literally be laughed out of my office if I ever behaved that way (to say nothing of displaying such an utter lack of knowledge about the job). And for Palin, of course, we're not talking about just any job. We're talking about the potential leader of the free world.

Do I shudder to think about that? You betcha!

Anonymous said...

It's amusing that you've posted Ms. Palin's followup interview after the debate on your site. On it she is, if possible, even more vapid than she was in the VP debate. She can barely string together a single coherent sentence. She cannot seem to formulate an answer with actual content to the simplest question if it requires rudimentary knowledge of any national or foreign policy issue. And, maybe most alarming of all, she projects a stunning lack of awareness of her glaring limitations (one blessing of a limited intellect, I guess). As a mom, wife and working professional, I'd dearly love to see (and love for my daughter to see) a woman on a presidential ticket, but I'm appalled at McCain for dredging her up and ashamed of our country for taking her seriously.

Sarah Palin is a sad joke, and an overt attempt to lasso in "Joe Six Pack" voters and women alike. Please try to think outside your privileged lives and realize that the walls of Rome are crumbling as long as the current Republican regime of which McCain and Palin are members is in charge of the executive branch. Do you support the policies of George W. Bush?

How do Sarah Palin's differ?

I suppose you were all very happy that George W. Bush was anti-abortion. Are you happy with how the last eight years turned out?

Seems to me that abortion is a ridiculously unimportant issue at this time of immense crisis. Nobody says you have to have one!

When somebody can tell me what Sarah Palin has said she would do to help fix these problems, I may take her seriously. As far as I am concern Ms. Palin is all fluff and no stuff. She is also a fear-mongering liar that doesn't really care about the country or anyone on this site. I think she is extremely energizing and refreshing. I don't believe there are many, if any, that can "honestly" that they are not going to vote the ticket only because she is on it. I think she is a great addition and, in fact, I picked her as his likely pick 2 weeks before they released it. Still have the emails to prove it.

I am glad that you have found some common ground with one politician on this sinking ship. The simple fact is, that Palin is probably the least qualified of any of the female politicians currently serving this great country. So why was she picked then? Youth, looks. It is certainly not for her ability to come up with solutions to this growing nightmare.

Intelligence is a GOOD thing.

You want your leaders to be of the elite. You want your leaders to be exceptionally intelligent.

You have had the last 8 years of a leader who is an average American.

Can you afford even another 4?

Jen Crane- Since when do you have to be a liberal to be bitter and hateful. And if I hear John McCain say, "My friends" one more time, I'm going to hurl. It goes both ways. I think that people have seen what a folsky person gets you as President of this country (Bush) and they don't want it to happen again. We should all want a President that is smarter than us. Whether that is Obama or McCain, is up to each person. Palin just doesn't stack up to either of them or even Biden for that matter. I agree that Obama does not have much experience, but he has proven over the length of his campaign, that he is intelligent and has, what many think, a good plan to get this country back on track. Nobody ever wins 100% of the vote. That's how it is supposed to be. So vote on Nov. 4 and on Nov. 5 be ready to help Obama get this country back in shape. That is what a true Amaerican would do. If McCain wins, that's what I will do.

This is not an attack forum. I think we have stooped much too low in America when we cannot respect opinions different from our own. It is OK to disagree, but why turn this into personal attacks?

Until Palin was declared the VP nominee, I was considering this race a "lesser of the two evils" race, as I do not entirely agree with McCain's platform and agree on NO LEVEL with Obama's. However, the addition of Palin has changed my perspective and given me more hope in the republican ticket - not because she's a woman but because she makes sense. I can relate to her.

I attempted to post a comment on the CNN page in reference to Randi Kyle's post, but comments had been closed. The ignorance of some of the posts on that site astounded me, frankly!

I am a mother. Sarah Palin does NOT represent me in any way. Where are values as a mother? Where are values as a woman? I have read the comments, and more than half of the people leaving comments are AGAINST her. Did you ever stop to think why?? My reason is that it so clear how she is being used as a prop for the Republican party. She does not have a mind of her own. What real woman in this day and age does not speak her own mind? She just repeats what has been fed to her. When we look back in history, she will have an asterick next to her name. Why? Because the majority of Americans think she is a joke. She is too arrogant to realize that we are not laughing "with" her, we are laughing "at" her. The self proclaimed "Hockey Mom" that represents "Joe Six Pack" How embarrassing!!! Do we not raise the standards higher for our own children? If our daughter were to make a speech at school, and she winked and talked slang throughout her speech, what would we say to her? Why is it ok for a woman who is running for the VP to do it? She is NO role model. As an American and an educator, I hang my head in shame at what this country has produced!!!!

I can see how certain people would find Sarah Palin charming and a good conversationalist. I can see how some people can agree with her conservative viewpoints. But what baffles me is that people can look at this person and actually feel that they are qualified to run for one of the highest positions in the land. She is simply not smart enough, not verbally and mentally flexible enough, and not educated enough to be able to traverse the choppy political waters with ease. I think it's irresponsible and dangerous to vote for her and I find it an insult to the intelligence of the American people that she is even being considered. Having a strong education is the greatest weapon you can have in politics, and like it or not a shoddy vanity degree does not cut it.

She didn't answer one question she was asked at the debate. Really? Really? She is ready? Come on, that is simply naive and looking the other direction. I dont claim to be the most intelligent person in the world nor near as "ready" or prepared as someone like Palin to run this country. But after hearing her speak at the debate I actually think I'd be a better bet in Washington than she would. At least I have intelligent, researched answers to the questions that were asked at the debate. She BLATANTLY avoided 90% of what she was asked. She kept harping on the funding of the troops that Obama voted against even after Biden pointed out MULTIPLE times that her man McCain voted the SAME WAY! It just blows my mind this country has people that have average (at least) intelligence that still can support her, or the republican party for that matter. They have fucked everything up. They have had there chance. So now it is time to give the people a vote. I will be the first person (after 8 years) to say "Fine, we failed" if this country is in worse shape 8 years from now. But I have zero doubts that will be the case.

It amazes me the way some liberals want to bash conservatives. First I see that on one hand McCain is a bad pick because he's had bouts with cancer but we tell people, see commercials that say cancer isn't an end all. We have celebrations across this country for those that have survived and make a difference. How about the likely hood that Obama could potentially end up with lung cancer or emphazema. He smokes. he admits it.
Then, because we like a woman like Sarah Palin, we're backwards. I'm sorry, when did a country or society end up being great because EVERYONE felt and believed the same way.
I also must admit at the shock of what it is taking in an attempt to get Obama elected. More money has spent on his campaigh than any other politician...ever. Oh and might I add that there is actually a chanel, yes a chanel currently named Obama and it's where he lays out his plan for America. A chanel? I fear for where this country is headed. I fear that my children won't be allowed to have the freedom to worship God, or homeschool their children or make a wage and not have half of it taken from them because there are other people in the country who "need it."

Tami, Keep it up. Don't, please don't let ruffled feathers get you.

Have you noticed that there are majority of comments showing the distrust towards and pain that the republican and christian right have caused to this country. Also one could conclude that computers and technology are mostly used by intelligent people, McCain does not even know how to use the internet. So if you want positive "God fearing," selfish, racist to chime in on what you like about life and Sara Palin, then maybe you should not use the internet. I do not believe in the ideals of christianity, which Obama and McCain do, but I hold that aside and realize that a president is not a church buddy or beer drinking friend but a leader that stands above the average citizen. I know that Obama is more serious about taking care of this country then winning a competition like any republican. This is a positive comment!

Hey Tami! I also found your blog thru the article. Im a 27 year old guy living in Canada, so in a way I have very little say in the matter. That being said, you can tell with the way people from other countries are intensly following this election that it is indeed an important one.
I consider myself quite conservative. Do I think Palin is an amazingly strong person? Absolutely. I love that she is pushing boundaries for women far beyond her own borders. I love that she loves what she does and believe in it.
I have travelled around the world and people are generally hostile to me because they think I'm American. This to me is sad: I dont get the hate. And so it is with a LOVE for America, for people, for the world, that I can say that I honestly believe that Obama is the only person who has even a remote chance of changing the world's attitude towards the US. Why? Because beyond his ideas, he speaks with hope. We need that, conservative or liberal.
I really want to encourage you to continue rooting for Palin, even once this election is done. It will be interesting to see what she does with her career and what paths she continues to blaze.

McPalin campaign needs to question those selves about attacking obama, they need to think this through long and hard before going forward with negative attacks ad because what goes around comes around. All these smears and lies the mcshame campaign is doing will eventually backfire in their faces. Let’s bring up how Cindy McCain is a drug addict, how McCain cheated on his first wife while she was hospitalized and how he’s a screwed up. Also let’s focus on Sarah-the-pain; how her husband Todd wanted Alaska to be separated from the U.S. and that group he's in. The AIP, that means Todd Palin paaling around with seccessionists aka Domestic Terrorists, so that makes Sarah a terrorist too, i hope she is prepared to answer all these questions. Let's also bring up how Sarah Palin cheated on Todd with his buddy, and since Sarah wants to talk about Rev. Wright, let's talk about her and her witch craft pastor from Africa who anointed her with voodoo. It's funny how Sarah Palin said to Joe Biden at the VP debate about how Joe keep going back tot the past, but yet this woman wants to revisit the past about Rev. Wright. They need to think long and hard. You throw mud in the air, it will fall right back into face. The McCain camp has the nerd to go public saying that they will distract us voters from the economic crisis that McCain and GW. Bush’s created of talking and attacking obama's character. So the pit-bull is on heels and gloves are off, wait until Joe Biden gets back on the trail on Wednesday. We're going to unleash the Greyhound and the McCain camp. Sarah needs to put her kids back in school.

This is awesome!

Keep up the good work here!!

I invite the Sarah Palin haters to please stop mocking this lady on here blog. Please!!

Sarah Palin has done more for the democrats that any candidate in history. She has single handedly destroyed both their credibility in presidential arena as well as in congress.

Palin is a media sensation and people love to watch her. Its like watching a train wreck in slow motion. As a result the republicans have had to spend so much time and money on damage control that they have had to pull resources from election campaigns for other candidates in congressional races.

So I ask all of you please stop posting negative things here about Sarah. There are a lot of serious issues that need to be addressed in this country right now. Work with a your local political outreach groups. Make calls on behalf of your candidate, post your views on positions but please stop the negitivity.

The republican party does not need any more support from you to tare itself down. They will fail miserably this year and Sarah will be back in a future election presidential candidate where she will finish destroying whats left of the part like a cancer from within.

Palin is the stupiest person I 've ever seen
She has no idea about anything she is talking about
She doesn't give us a choice and she is actually against women's rights
She is even under the investigation
But I love to see all these interviews with her- it is very entertaining - honestly she is such a dumm person...

You are entitled to your opinion. However until Palin starts answering to the media that she HAS to answer to in office, she is an empty suit. She and McCain distort the truth, they incite anger, not bipartisanship.

Say it ain't so Sarah...you keep talkin' about the past!

How about she answers about Troopergate? The witchdoctor? vote interference? She's a sham...I'm sorry you believe in a false god.

As a woman, I cannot understand her willingness to put her family second and the VP job first. As a voter, I cannot support a canidate who wants to bomb countries and doesn't even know who the leader she'd be bombing is. As a citizen of the US, I cannot vote for someone who says that not having the bible in schools is a violation of the constitution.
Constitution, the leadership structure of Iran, and a complete biography of Bill Ayers can be found on Wikipedia in less than 20 seconds. I cannot support someone who fails to do basic research on what she's talking about and just spouts what the campaign manager says. These are not marks of a smart woman to me.

I have to say that I can't believe how any family who feels strongly about education would vote for the Palin/McCain ticket. We need smart people running our country - the smartest we have - and Palin does not cut it. This is no the role model of intellect we wnat to present to our kids. McCain, is old, unhealthy and will walk in day one to numerous crisis that have aged the current president significantly in his years in office. The potential for Palin to be President is real -- and that scares the bejesus out of me because she is an intellectual lightweight, substituting absolute surety for critical thinking skills. I'd go as far as saying its an embarrassment for the US to field such a candidate given then many experienced and intelligent women that Republican party had to choose from. BTW I was a card carrying Republican for 20 years from Reagan up until 2004 -- but never voted for the current intellectual lightweight in office either -- because stupid people often make bad decisions -- and in the Presidency that means people lose their lives and their life savings.

I find it strange that women cry "sexism" in regard to the press coverage of Palin when her supporters seem to be behind her because she IS a woman...and a Mom...and because of her religious beliefs. Religion doesn't belong in politics as was made abundantly clear by our Founding Fathers. Like abortion, religion is an intensely personal thing and government has no business in either.

Sara Palin should take a page from Michelle Obama's book of grace and humanity like Michelle displayed on Larry King last night.

I am not a citizen of this country but I am following these elections very closely. I read your news on CNN and came here to see whats going on. Hey tami, being an average women is not a qualification to be a President/vice president of united states. Countries like mine always look to USA for better leadership in this free world. You guys already made mistake by electing GWB 2nd time. Now not only you but as an immigrant of this country even I am seeing how bad the condition in this country is. You want to take one more chance by electing dumbest person like Palin and too old to be president like McCain? Please, not only for this country but every other country in the world who look up USA for leadership, dont wont repub ticket this time. We, back in my home country, use think Americans are educated, smart people but I dont see that anymore. It worries me because Ill be in good shape if America is in good shape. Dont think that being an outsider I dont know anything about this country, I am living here almost 7 years now. Please stop this madness.

I love what a strong, moral woman Gov. Sarah Palin is and I completely support and pray for her! It is so refreshing to see a candidate who is truly pro-life, truly for the regular guy/gal and doesn't load her speeches up with fluff and try to act like something she's not. Washington needs to take notice. I'M voting for McCain/Palin!

As an Alaskan resident for 20 years, I've watched the campaign with disbelief since Sarah was chosen to be VP. Complete disbelief. She was inexperienced when she became our governer in the first place; we were all skeptical and regarded it like it was her 1st day at kindergarten. Then she didn't even serve a real term, and she was pregnant most of that term (hiding it from us Alaskan citizens and her fellow politicians), she was so distracted with that the entire time. It was obvious. SO she gained no further experience, in other words, by "serving as governor".. She made no CHANGE. She isn't innovative and fresh. News flash - she IS a woman, but she absolutely does NOT stand for women's rights, like all of you believe. Did any of you read about the rape victims' rape assessment fees in Wasilla?! Do any of you read ANYthing about her "experience" in Alaska?! Which was a SHORT time, I know, I know, she didn't have a big window there to actually DO much, what with her baby and secrets taking up all 3 of her brain cells.

McCain wasn't popular with conservatists alone. So he found Sarah, and tricked you all. Everyone forgot about that already.

You really think you and I would go to hell if we voted for Obama-Biden? You think God will grant you His pass for voting for McCain-Palin? You really base everything off of your religious beliefs, which should have nothing to do with politics? You'd risk so many young men and women's lives? You'd risk the economy's sad future? Use your heads ladies.

But what should I expect? This is The Crucible all over again.

I will respond to the annonymous one who commented that stay at home moms are unintelligent. Many women who make the choice to stay home to take care of their children had to also make the choice to leave their career or job. And if you knew one personally you would discover that these women are very intelligent. It takes a lot of courage to stay home. But I also believe that it takes alot of courage for those women who chose to continuie working for whatever reason they have - the family needs the second income, the mom is single, the mom is called of God to do her job outside the home. I believe that Sarah Palin is destined for great things - one being VP of the United States. And she is fortunate to have a wonderful husband who supports her and helps with the children. I know that she would not have accepted the nomination if she had not had the support of her children and husband.

I think we need to remember that in America we have the privilege to vote for our leaders. There are many countries who do not. God Bless America! Go McCain/Palin!

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as THEY see fit.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters.

The sexism against Sarah Palin started when John McCain and other Republican leaders introduced her at the convention as a mother of five, a "hockey mom", and a "pit bull in lipstick". How many people even known how many kids John McCain has? Sarah Palin's family and gender were thrown out from day one as part of her qualifications for office, and it is no wonder that she has been scrutinized and attacked in those areas.

Like her or not, Sarah Palin is an accomplished public official and a skilled politician. McCain and the Republican party did her a huge disservice by trying to sell her as a hockey mom.

I respect the fact that you have published such a wide variety of views here.

I realize that you are a deeply religious person, that Sarah Palin represents your values, and you identify with that. The same thing appears true for every woman in your group, as represented in the CNN article.

Do you thereby believe that all of the women in your group of friends are qualified to hold such an important and challenging office?

The issue here is simple: Qualifications — with a capital Q. That can display itself in several ways: A high level of relevant education, many years in a related field for which one is applying, an interview process that determines one's aptitude, etc. Sarah Palin is lacking on all of these fronts.

Barack Obama is only partially lacking on the length of his experience... but on the education front, and in his "interview" over the past two years of grilling by the media, in which he has clearly articulated a deep understanding of the issues that this country faces, he has shined.

I fully support your desire to have a woman break that glass ceiling, but surely, deep in your heart of hearts, even you must wish that McCain had chosen someone who not only represents your views, but had the ability to articulate them in a commanding and presidential manner, as opposed to winking and using folksy Joe-Six-Pack talk.

Should Barack Obama win the presidency, as appears likely, hopefully you will support him, and give him a fair chance to prove himself.

Okay, so you may or may not be a Sarah Palin fan. However, the truth is, the President of the US does not make un-informed executive decisions. It is the job of the president to gather reliable information, process it, and act upon it in a diligent manner. Therefore, it is my belief that Sarah Palin is certainly capable of being not only the VP of the US but the president in the event that she should have to step up to the plate. She will have plenty of advisors that will give her info on forgein affairs, economics, etc...so let's focus on a candidate's ability to process information and make well-informed decisions that are in the best interest of our country.

Hey Guy who wants to Marry Horses. You gave us your reasons for voting Democratic, now tell us why you want to vote Republican.

I voted Republican all of my life until Dubya. Than I was so distraught with the fact that the republicans were allowed to steal the election, that I turned to an independent. And yes I will be voting Democrat. The problem with the two party system is that a party lets you just default your vote to whatever your party believes. It makes it so you can buy into the BS advertising rather than actually researching issues.

So please enlighten all of us voting for Obama, one simple change that will happen if McCain/Palin was in office.

To one of the Tami's who posted above, I checked your Blog about your jeans and not being able to afford another pair. Why do you think that is? Do you think the economy will magically turn around with McCains leadership? After all he's a brand new face of change to Washington right? It is sad that anybody in their right mind could feel good about Sarah Palin as Vice President, realizing that there is a 1 in 5 chance of her being president. I just don't understand how our country has fallen so far behind. We have become a punch line... the richest most industrialized nation in the world yet we are an uneducated, ignorant populace who votes incompetent people into the most important position in World. And people who actually sway a vote towards the Republican party tend to vote against their true interests & only vote Republican due to the party attaching themselves to the one political issue that many religious people care about (Abortion). Please do yourselves and the entire world a favor and realize that our single greatest issue is overpopulation. There will be no world for your children or grandchildren to live in. It is in all of our interests to only have 1 or 2 kids and not keep growing our population and resource consumption. It is fine to be religious, Obama is religious, but it is also important to be realistic and understand that many of these religious practices were set in place so religions would have strength in numbers. It is fine to feel like you can relate to a candidate like Palin, or even Bush for that matter but also realize that having you or a person like you in office probably would not be in the best interest of our nation. A president needs to be an expert in law and economics.. Not some local yokal who graduated from Community college. Please don't waste your time putting up a blog like this. It is a fruitless effort

Wow. All I have to say. This is the most unqualified person to ever run on a presidential ticket. Ever. That includes Dan Quayle, and I thought he was the biggest idiot in the history of the political world. Everyone that says I would like to hang out with her/have a drink with her is moronic. We need the best possible leadership, and the sharpest minds available- not some below average student who went to 5 schools in 6 years. I live in Pinellas County Florida which has 900,000 people. The entire State of Alaska has 600,000! What is she qualified to do exactly?

I agree that Sarah has been unfairly criticized and mocked, and this distracts from her message. Although I am not a supporter, I do try to listen to the true message of the candidate without prejudgment. I believe that everyone has a right to be heard and to make their case fairly to the national audience. Each candidate deserves the same.

Anonymous said...

Count me among the clear majority of people in this country who think Palin is unqualified to be VP, let alone President. Oh, and I'm from Alaska too, so hopefully that makes my opinion worth a little more! Maybe just a little bit?

She's obviously terribly inarticulate when it comes to expressing her own views (see the Couric interview, as an example). Yes, she can ably read speeches others have written off a Teleprompter. At least there's that.

Perhaps the reason she's so inarticulate is that she's uninformed about the issues? Not surprising at all, considering that she has absolutely no experience on the national stage.

Perhaps the reason she's so inarticulate is because she's simply not very intelligent? This also wouldn't be that surprising, given her abysmal academic record (5 colleges in 6 years). She can't identify news sources she reads, evidently has little curiosity about other cultures and has done virtually no travel to other countries even though her family earns over $200,000 per year.

It seems like Palin's truest supporters don't care what she knows, as long as they feel they can identify with her on a personal level. It's the ultimate in identity politics.

Thank goodness she's going to lose! Just like Dan Quayle, she'll quickly become irrelevant.

Anonymous said...

"Obama made $4,000,000 last year while Palin made $125,000. Who do you think knows what YOU are going through in life?"

Luckily, most people are more intelligent than you, and base their decisions on opinions rather than income. It's adorable that you think that earning a large income is inherently evil, though, considering your Republican leanings. I wonder if you even understand your own party at all.

You may think Sarah Palin is energetic, personable, attractive, and just one of the girls. But that doesn't make her qualified to be vice president. And Troopergate is getting ready to blow up in her face.
But I suppose carrying out personal vendettas in office is part of good Christian behavior. Because you have attended a conservative christian church, doesn't qualify you any more to be vice president than it does to be a brain surgeon, or an astronaut.

Even Conservatives are questioning her ability; it is possible she may be "The worst VP candidate in the history of America". What bothers me is that as a Christian she continues to repeat lies about Obama, which leads me to belive that she is (A)dishonest or (B) Lacking in Brain power!

I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight..........

* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're 'exotic, different.'
* Grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, a quintessential American story.

* If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
* Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, and you're a maverick.

* Graduate from Harvard law School and are President of the Law Review, you are unstable.
* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating from one, you're well grounded.

* If you spend 3 years as a community organizer, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

* If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.
* If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant , you're very responsible.

* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.
* If your husband is nicknamed 'First Dude', with at least one DUI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

Thank you so much for this forum. I LOVE SARAH PALIN!!!
As for those, who say that Sarah Palin is dangerous and her thinking is wrong for this country WAKE UP. I am a young, educated woman who is sick of feminist hypocrisy and idiocy. What a perfect candidate for feminists: A strong educated, successful career woman and mother. But no, they will not support Palin because of her stance on abortion. When did women's rights=abortion rights and when did abortion become the defining principle of feminism? Unfortunately the feminists have been completely fooled by Democratic men who led them to believe that this was an issue for which women needed to fight. If feminists are truly for all women, they need to realize and recognize that not all women support abortion rights.

I think all of you moms need to wake up and get in touch with reality. Palin has got to be the most incompetent individual that certainly isn't ready to lead. Besides being vague and non-specific about policy, she can't even name the newspapers she reads (most likely she doesn't read any, but I'll give her the benefit of doubt)

Sarah Palin speaks with heart-felt conviction. She is an outstanding example of what makes America great. She resonates with average Americans because she is real. Sarah Palin doesn't fit the ideal media prototype for many reasons. She is pro-life, pro-family and pro-faith. Much of the media abhors such values and slanders those who represent and communicate them. These values are eternal principles of American public life. I applaud Sarah Palin for standing up for conservative values. She says what she means and means what she says. After all, Joe Biden stated that FDR spoke on television in 1929. Who knew? Barack Obama's statements vary depending on his audience. With Sarah Palin you have substance not form and reality not pretense.

Not bitter or frustrated but prosperous and proud in GA

Seriously, do you Palin fans really think either Palin or McCain could actually successfully lead this country?

To Anon who started off with I LOVE SARAH PALIN!!!

So ignore abortion. How would you feel if you were walking to your car after work, then you were raped, and when you went in to the hospital so they could examine you, collect samples to catch the jerk... OH WAIT you can't afford it because Sarah raised the price of rape assessment. ?? Who the hell would do that? Women's rights, yeah, sorry we have to educate you on the Other Issues.

Since when did taking six years to get a B.S. in journalism make anyone especially educated, especially in the context of running for VP? Do you even know what you are saying?

You really think that it's even possible to cast a ballot for Sarah? Didn't you learn how elections work in, umm, grade school?

Sadly, you're the majority in America - you don't vote based on the important factors at play, but because of what some supporters of a candidate say. How patheticly ignorant of you. Do the world a favor and stay home on election day.

I am a single mother of two from childen from Alabama and was honestly going to vote for Mccain because of his VP choice.

But after reading this Blog, I started Googling some of the things the Palin haters were talking about.

Did Palin really accept 14k in perdiem to stay in her own home? Alot of my neighbors make that much in a year. I don't believe it is very Morl to accept that kind of money to sleep where you live. I think my vote is leaning towards Obama. maybe I should start my own Blog and call it ALOBAMA.

Sarah Palin might be 'one of the girls'. She might be very pleasant. She is also utterly unqualified to be our VP.

I want a VP that knows foreign policy, domestic policy, and economic matters. By that I mean a true understanding of the issues. Sarah's understanding of these issues is thin at best.

When I need an expert, I find one. I don't need someone who's just like me. I'm like me. I already have one of those.

And I DO NOT want my VP to wink at me.

i am a woman and i think sarah palin and her accomplishments as a mayor and governor are and will continue to be inspiring to young women in years to come.

having said that though i think it downright scary and ridiculous that there are people across this nation who actually think that palin is remotely qualified. she is without question a strategy in what was (and now is again) a dying campaign. i do not want "joe six-pack" as my vice president or president. i want an intelligent person who is ready for the challenge of turning a hurting nation around.

people, sarah palin went to 5 different colleges to get a bachelors degree in communications. if that doesn't tell you enough about her i don't know what will.

please think carefully before voting for the mccain/palin ticket. are you voting just because she is a woman? or just because you have voted republican in the past?? this is not a strong ticket. this is poor leadership. this pitbull with lipstick knows nothing about how to lead a country. alaska, maybe but the entire nation???

What's the difference between justifying a war in the name of the Palin's god and a war in the name of Osama Bin Laden's god? Are there good and evil gods? Or rather good and evil people that dare to kill others in the name of god.
And how about this opposition to teach sex education in school? Where the dear daughter learn edabout to contain herself? Evidentely the "mom" has not done a good job to educate her daughter not to f**k without condom (not to mention that she had pre-marital sex...)

While I respect your allegiance to Sarah Palin, that she resembles a safe vision of America like a Hallmark Card or a Norman Rockwell painting, I must stand firm on the idea that her pressence in this election is not a step backward for feminism, that her inclusion on the republican ticket is cynical act of political strategy, and that she is grossly unqualified for the position she is applying for. I would urge you Moms for Palin to consider these ideas. I'm trying to reach across the aisle here. We need to require more from them that they simply look like and talk like us. Please discontinue being fooled by the minipulation of this cynical movement. Remember how liberal John McCain used to be! Never forget!

As an educated woman, it's sad to see how many pathetic women are out there who are voting for a vagina over a policy. Sarah Palin would be a bigger mistake than giving Osama Bin Laden citizenship. Yes, that's how bad she would be. She doesn't know anything about the world around her, everything you hear her say is what has been fed to her. She is a puppet, you ignorant fools.

Tami,

Some of us will be praying for you to see the light and see Sarah Palin for what she really is: the worst possible choice for our country! She is not qualified, raises questions about Obama relationships while she is still married to a man that belonged to the Secession party...how do you explain that? Have you seen statements from the founder of that party? It's scary. And perhaps even scarier that some of you support her. May the Lord of love fill your heart with understanding and open your eyes soon.

I respect your position and that you are voting for McCain/Palin based on the facts. Specifically with what the article on AC360 specified, Pro-Life, against stem cell research. I am an Obama/Biden Supporter. I would like to ask one thing though, do you as supporters of McCain/Palin feel that Barack Obama is a terrorist? I think the current campaign scene has turned pretty ugly, I'm sure you have read that when Palin was campaiging and brought up William Ayers, people began calling Barack Obama a terrorist. On top of that he received the citizen of the year award in Chicago. Educated individuals that see this campaign based off the facts understand yes maybe he worked with someone back in the day that was a terrorist, funny thing is there are republicans that support McCain that also worked with Ayers but no one calls that out. I think the problem right now is both camps have to get back to the issues. No more beating up on each other, it's getting pretty tiring, I mean based off of the last debate McCain really didn't specify foreign policy, economy. His answer when it came to rating his priorities on which one he would tackle first and he said all of them at the same time. REally?? People can't really believe that can they? That is a pretty generic answer, I think you as a voter of McCain/Palin should ask him to be specific. You may not have liked Barack Obamas answer but you have to admit he was a lot more straight forward and clear cut that this is what he will do first this second this third.

So again I respect you for blogging on facts that you believe in. And I believe you respect other peoples decisions to. I will say that I am not happy with Sarah Palin's performance during her interviews with Kati Curic. All three interviews she had the opportunity to get specific, her answers on All the Magazines, All the news papers, on I wil lget back to you with that answer. Again these are questions we should be allowed to ask, because she is going to be the 2nd most powerful person in the US. They will control our finances, our foreign relations, war decisions. I would ask the questions of Biden and Obama and anyone else that was running. And we all know if Biden gave those answers we would all be calling him out to. I personally do not believe Palin is ready to actually be VP let alone the President. If you are running for these offices you should be able to name supreme court cases, should understand what each justice stands for. Because for her to be pro-life and to overturn roe v wade she has to appt justices to the supreme court that are for that. But I bet if you asked her right now which justices support roe v wade and which dont she wouldn't be able to answer it. I say this because she couldn't name one other case that she was against when she said there are "lots of cases shes against."

I hope that you ask your candidates to be specific because that is what I am doing with mine. It's a very important decision and as much as you can relate to her, I think you should ask yourself does she know more than you do. Because as a VP her knowledge of politics/foreign relations/economy should be more than what us as the people have.

I understand your attraction to Sarah Palin to some degree. It would seem that she is just an average woman with strong values who has been able to rise politically and attempt to do some good. And maybe that is true. Still, I find it very scary that so many people are willing to put her a heart beat away from the highest office in the land just because they agree with the values she espouses (anti abortion, opp. stem cell research, etc.)

I consider myself independent and believe similar values...however I will not vote for her. She does not appear authentic to me in any way. The winking and other performing tricks are tiring.

I am disheartened that the American people are still willing to vote for people who so easily get up and say how great they are. Where is her humility? In my experience, when a person lacks humility...they tend not to care how other people feel. They are also never wrong. That is who we want in office? Someone who attributes the same qualities of God to themselves?

No, I want someone who is willing to consult with others, carefully considers all the options, picks the ones that will truly benefit the most people and be willing to admit when they were wrong and try a new course.

Sarah Palin couldn't even think of one area she lacks in (as seen in the VP debate). Actually, Ms. Palin didn't even give the moderator or the forum enough respect to answer the questions asked.

That's a maverick? No that is just rude and a display of ignorance.

Christians as a whole are retarded. Anyone who believes a Jewish Zombie is going to come back from the dead, because a woman ate an apple she got from a talking snake should be shot.

Anonymous said...

WE LOVE SARAH FOR HER RELIGIOUS BELIEFS!!!!! DON"T YOU GET IT?

Palin's religious background must initially have been seen as a positive to McCain campaign vetters, who assumed that her faith would appeal to the conservative base of the party that has always been suspicious of McCain. But ever since she joined the ticket in late August, the Alaska governor's various religious affiliations have caused headaches. First came reports that her pastor at the nondenominational Wasilla Bible Church was connected to Jews for Jesus, an organization that seeks to convert Jews to Christianity. Prominent Jewish leaders, including the co-chair of McCain's Jewish outreach effort, have since demanded to know whether Palin also believes that Jews must be converted. The Bible Church became an issue again when Katie Couric asked Palin about the church's promotion of a program to help gays "overcome" their homosexuality.

And finally, a videotape surfaced of a 2005 service at the Wasilla Assembly of God Church, the Pentecostal church that Palin attended for most of her life. In the scene captured on video, Palin stands at the front of the sanctuary while a visiting African pastor prays that God will help her gubernatorial campaign and protect her "from every form of witchcraft." Later in the same service, the pastor complains that "Israelites" held too many prominent positions in business, a comment that has further alienated Jewish voters.

I live in Florida. I am a Christian. I am a woman. I couldn’t be less supportive of Palin’s candidacy.

I am appalled by Sarah Palin’s lack of credentials, and more importantly by her general lack of knowledge on foreign and domestic issues and her inability to articulate the positions and proposed policies of her ticket.

She is all style and no substance, and her recent forays into attack politics combined with her failure to cooperate with the ethics investigation in her home state says to me that this is a dangerous person that I most definitely don’t want representing me or my country.

I think Gov Palin has a great future in politics but she is over her head caused by her being prematurely put into this role.

It is truly appalling that 43% of the voters of this country are comfortable with this 1 and 1/2 year Governor (and Mayor of town with 9,000 people), who believes that dinosaurs and humans coexisted, becoming our President in the near future.

It's ridiculous. It's absolutely ridiculous. What's even more ridiculous is how close this race is. It should be a 70/30 split at least. Are people not aware of what has been going on in the past 8 years? HOW can one really support a Palin/McCain administration? I'm not hailing Obama and the Democrats as the perfect choice (which they are far from), but at this point it is one's duty to vote for the more logical choice. We do not need an administration with a foreign policy that is as foolish as the one that we've been using in the past 7 years. An administration that will not even TALK to foreign leaders, no matter what. Not even TALK to them. McCain claims that war is "the last option". But if you aren't willing to talk, military options are the ONLY option. Sanctions are just a band-aid, never a solution.

Please, all of the voters in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Indiana and ALL of the other swing states, please go and vote for Obama this upcoming election. And I know that there are many other options out there, many smaller parties that might be more ideal, but a vote for them is a vote for McCain.

This is not the election for a third party to rise up and try to break this 2 party stranglehold, but please please please vote for the Obama/Biden ticket for the sake of our great country. If you vote for McCain/Palin, then you have no right to complain about gas prices, immature foreign policy or an injured economy. And again, please vote for the Democrats, this is not the election to write in another candidate, we are in too much of a bad situation to take that risk. Wait until the country picks itself up again, but for now, vote Obama/Biden. And perhaps Ron Paul 2012 ;)

So for the sake of our country, vote Obama/Biden.

I just saw your piece on CNN. Learning about you and your friends highlights what is frightening to me and the rest of the country about evangelical christians. You praise Palin's support of her pregnant, unmarried teenage daughter yet if a democratic candidate's daughter was in the same position, you would sit on your moral high horse and condemn them. Plain was against birth control and sex education. She is a hypocrite. You personify the hypocrisy of the republican party and evangelical christians. You are blinded by Palin's "charm" and "winks at the camera". You say you "get" her and other's don't. You said she is someone who you could sit down and half a snack with. The last time this country voted for someone based on these qualities, we got George Bush. Just because she is likeable, does not mean she is ready to lead the most powerful country in the world. Do you understand this? Like Bush, Palin is a dangerous mix of over-confidence and stupidity. This woman knows NOTHING about the world. She just got a passport in 2007. You would trust your country and your children's future to a woman just because you think she would be fun to hang out with? You scare me and I pity you. Wake up. Educate yourself. 2. She REFUSES to do an interview with liberal or non-conservative media including CNN and MSNBC.

3. Palin literally did a mimic hate speach of a Nazi party member against Obama.

4. McCain REFUSES to appear without her for fear the crowds will leave.

I watched CNN's piece on your organization. I too am a Christian woman. As I listened to the way that you relate to Sarah Palin because she's a Christian mom, I immediately wondered whether you relate to Michelle Obama. She too is a Christian mom.

What worried me about your group, and what worries me about Sarah Palin (among numerous concerns), is that neither of you reflect American diversity. Are there NO women of color who could have been included in your group as Christian moms? Even in a state as diverse as Florida?

One of the beauties of our country, and which should be represented by our elected officials, is the VALUE of diversity. God created that diversity. NOTHING that I've seen of Sarah Palin gives me confidence that she will represent ALL of America's people, as opposed to just the "Joe Six Packs" to whom she relates.

If you represent yourself to be a Christian, then shouldn't you show that you love and honor all God's children, and not just the ones who look like you?

it's people like you who elect the most uncapable leaders into office and then wonder in your mid-western accents "why's the economy so bad". do not vote for people who are "like you" because you're stupid and that must mean they are too (i.e. palin).
i don't like obama but at least he's got biden to babysit him; the republican team's 0/2.
