Biden's Lies, and What's Really True (UPDATED)

1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted "the exact same way" as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.

2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.

3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, "Drill we must." But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to "raping" the Outer Continental Shelf."

4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it's passage.

5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he's always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.

6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to
FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain's record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.

7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people's health insurance coverage -- they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false

8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska -- she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it's not a windfall profits tax.

9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO's International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.

10.REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation -- he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.

11.IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was "dead wrong on Iraq", because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.

12.TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn't see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.

13.BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn't meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of "part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20."

14.REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won't pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

Palin twisted the facts as well. With all due respect, why didn't you include these to balance it out? Source: Factcheck.org

Palin mistakenly claimed that troop levels in Iraq had returned to “pre-surge” levels. Levels are gradually coming down but current plans would have levels higher than pre-surge numbers through early next year, at least.

Palin repeated a false claim that Obama once voted in favor of higher taxes on “families” making as little as $42,000 a year. He did not. The budget bill in question called for an increase only on singles making that amount, but a family of four would not have been affected unless they made at least $90,000 a year.

Palin claimed McCain’s health care plan would be “budget neutral,” costing the government nothing. Independent budget experts estimate McCain's plan would cost tens of billions each year, though details are too fuzzy to allow for exact estimates.

Palin wrongly claimed that “millions of small businesses” would see tax increases under Obama’s tax proposals. At most, several hundred thousand business owners would see increases.

yes, i noticed how left wing fact check is if that's what you're asking.

sure, she made some slip ups last night...who doesn't? obama sure did, and mccain wasn't perfect either.

but there's a huge difference in making a misstep and out and out lying repeatedly--to the tune of at least 14 times--as joe biden did.

Keep up the good word, Tami & thanks for keeping us all up-to-date!

I think it would be so much better if we could look for commonalities instead of filling people with hate and divisiveness. I would try to work on focusing on what you believe in in a positive rather than negative way. I would like to hear what on factcheck.org is so liberally biased - please give concrete examples because I have found them to be very fair. The debates are ridiculous - both lie or stretch the truth and no rational being would want to vote for either at the end. However, I certainly was struck by how incoherent Palin was and how unknowledgeable she seemed. I am proud of her as a woman and as a mother, but so far I am not proud of her as a candidate. I think she is, unfortunately, terrible for women. I also think that she is now trying to incite more and more hate around Obama. Bringing people in the audience to a flurry where they both yell "Kill him" and attack African Americans working on a television crew is certainly not Christian and it is not something that a Christian should tolerate.

Good day mame,

I need you to do me a small favor that last for that amount of time that you read this.

Imagine yourself and your family, poor, always been poor. In the cycle that you cant get out. The only way to survive the next day is keen wit. Remember this is a melting pot. Very few Americans live like you do. The majority of us live in reality. Where you have to struggle to get by, based on raceism and hate. Think to your self, if you were walking down the street alone at night and saw a black man walking on the same side walk in your direction, what would you think honestly, honestly? Imagine having that thought that you would have on your shoulders that every young black male is either a criminal or up to no good! You have been raised in a society that puts you and your family into a projects, poor and destrot. Im talking about only thing you have in you refregerator is bread and butter poor. No jobs for you or your family. Based on your skin tone and conditions you have been forced to live in solitude and destructive behavior. This is a world you have no idea about. This is what the GOP refuses to address. I know they talk about the middle class alot in this election but what about the poor. I have been in the military for three years and im still in the low income bracket. If you are single in the military you really dont make that much money. Look at the world and the country as a whole and not as if when they are talking they are only talking about your community and your way of life. Its seems as if you Sarah Palin, and your group need a culture shock. Take a look at this country as a whole please!!!
