The infamous plane that was listed on eBay (UPDATED)

Okay, I don't know how many of you are listening to the networks, but the Dems are out there saying that Sarah Palin lied about the Governor's plane that she listed on eBay after taking office. I have heard it on more than one network, and I have heard it from more than one of Obama's spokespeople!

SHE DID LIST THE PLANE ON EBAY! They are flat out lying! She said, in her speech last week, "While I was at it, I got rid of a few things in the governor's office that I didn't believe our citizens should have to pay for. That luxury jet was over the top. I put it on eBay." She never said she SOLD it on eBay! She did sell it, but the $2.5 million dollar asking price was not met on eBay, so a businessman from Alaska offered the state $2.1 million for it and they took it!

What the left fails to explain is HOW this plane came into the possession of the Alaska Governor's office in the first place, and the promise Sarah made during her campaign to get rid of it! More on that to come.....

See www.fightthepalinsmears.com for further details.

**UPDATE:
Murkowski, the previous governor of Alaska, made some moves that were very unpopular with the people of Alaska during his time in office after he was elected in '02. One of the moves that was most unpopular was believed to be a kind of payback to the people of Alaska for voting him down on several other issues. "Thus when the governor proposed acquisition of an executive jet for his official travel, many Alaskans were incredulous." (From "Sarah" by Kaylene Johnson) He first tried to get a grant from the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security, who promptly refused his request. He then tried to obtain funds to lease a jet from the state legislature. He claimed he was just trying to update the states aging fleet of planes and that he would make the plane available to fly inmates out of the state to Arizona. They denied his request as well. He then promptly "secured a line of credit and went shopping for a jet." The state paid $2.6 million for the plane, $97,600 "to train four pilots and $95,000 for repairs and upgrades". Just shortly after winning the election, Sarah decided to make good on her promise to cut spending, and selling the plane was one way she could do that. You've heard her yourself, she was just fine getting herself where she needed to go!
